We at Murphey the Jeweler pride ourselves in old-fashioned customer service and values. Milling Machine. Murphey The Jeweler has an in-store wax-milling machine to complete total client custom jewelry needs.
Laser WelderThe hardest thing to do in our business is tell a customer that their favorite and/or family piece of jewelry cannot be fixed. Now, we don't have to. We have added to our jewelry repair shop, a state-of-the-art laser-welding machine. This machine provides a useful alternative to traditional torch welding. And, you're the one who benefits most.
The laser welder now allows repair and restoration of antique, estate and costume jewelry. It's a versatile tool that can repair and restore many delicate or worn items previously thought to be beyond repair.
Platinum, gold, silver and titanium alloys all have successful results. Metals that are too soft for soldering such as gold filled, pewter, stainless steel, copper and base metal can all now be repaired with little or no trace of damage to the outlying areas of the jewelry. Eyeglasses can even be repaired.
This machine is a laser-welder that bonds metal with a seam that is 260% stronger than solder and 95% as strong as the original metal. This technology insures top quality work, allowing our staff to accomplish sophisticated repairs not possible with conventional ways.
On most items you will not be able to tell where the piece of jewelry has been repaired. Laser welding is THE ideal way to preserve an antique piece of jewelry and its value. Now, there is a 95% chance of successfully repairing items that otherwise would have been scrapped.

Cad-Cam Jewelry Design ProgramDesigning custom jewelry the old fashion way can be a tedious and imprecise process. Customers don't always know what they're getting until the piece is completed.
For more than a century, Murphey the Jeweler has offered customers custom-designed jewelry in addition to their line of stock items. Traditional design methods included hand sketching the item, then hand carving a wax model for the customer to approve. If changes needed to be made the entire process would have to be repeated from the beginning making the customer wait even longer for their jewelry.
Now, Murphey the Jeweler on South Broadway in Tyler is leading the trend in custom-designed jewelry with its new Matrix 3-D Jewelry Design Software that lets customers see their custom piece of jewelry from every angle, in full color, before it's actually made.
With this new, advanced technology, we can create exactly the piece of jewelry you want and give you a full-color proof, which can be viewed and altered on the computer screen before the wax model is made. Once approved, the computer file then produces an exact wax prototype of the design.
Murphey the Jeweler then transforms the wax prototype into a quality, custom-designed piece of fine jewelry that matches exactly what you, the customer, viewed on the computer screen -- "What you see is what you get."
This process greatly improves our client/staff relationship. "The new software allows me to effectively communicate design ideas to the customer by enhancing the sketches I usually provide," says Sananda Perrin, shop foreman and award-winning jewelry designer. "That helps us avoid any misunderstanding about what the end result will look like, and it makes for a much happier customer."
This year, we at Murphey the Jeweler had the privilege of speaking with a retired PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL PLAYER, who allowed us to re-make his lost Championship Diamond Ring.
